Artist Statement: The exhibition Time Traveler is a reunion of two works by Peruvian-American artist C.J. Chueca. The first series is of ceramic airplane windows called ¨We are night and day”. She started this project in 2019. Each window used to be from a specific trip the artist has made, but also, as a group depicted change through the variation of colors and hours of the day, taken from some of the artist principal interests (geographical and biographical transformation, immigration, and identity). When Covid19 hit the world, C.J. continued to create these airplane windows even though she was confined in her house in Lima, this installation comes from a more introspective necessity, grown in most of us lately during quarantine.

Artist Bio: C.J. Chueca (Cecilia Jurado Chueca) lives between Lima and New York since 2003. Her history as a perpetual immigrant has lead her to explore the concepts of home, territory, transition, multiculturality, uprooting and solitude.
